Prize 2014

The prize awarded to the winner of North Rhine-Westphalia's regional competition will include:
  • Free access to the Galileo infrastructure at railGATE or automotiveGATE
  • Use of the globally unique Galileo Pseudolite environment to develop and test the winning idea with real physical signals
  • Free technical support from on-site experts
  • Research into further funding opportunities and assistance with related applications
  • Assistance in finding additional project partners needed to take the next step
  • Access to the office space and infrastructure of the railGATE facility at ListZentrum in Wegberg-Wildenrath, Germany
  • Professional support in creating a business plan for market success
  • Tailored patent consulting for comprehensive protection of the winning idea
The jury will select the winner based primarily on the originality and feasibility of the proposals submitted.

Regional Organiser
Automotive & Rail Innovation Center (ARIC)

As part of the ESNC, the NRW Challenge is being coordinated by the Automotive & Rail Innovation Center (ARIC), a business division of AGIT mbH in Aachen, Germany. Aachen is one of the leading hubs of vehicle technology in Europe and the location of a unique testing environment for satellite navigation in connection with ground-based transportation. AGIT supports start-ups and entrepreneurs, provides access to facilities at the Technology Centre Aachen, and offers answers in all matters concerning patents, business development, and expansion. ARIC, meanwhile, deals with satellite navigation applications, advanced driver-assistance systems, and intelligent energy management (with regard to e-mobility, for example) and supports all of its users during trials in the Galileo test beds railGATE and automotiveGATE. ARIC's participation in the ESNC is being facilitated by the joint efforts of AutoCluster.NRW and Elektromobilität.NRW.

Elektromobilität.NRW is the central point of contact for e-mobility in North Rhine-Westphalia. It integrates R&D projects, serves as a bridge between the realms of science and industry, provides key input to policy makers, and keeps the public informed of related developments.

This service-oriented network serves as an interface that interconnects the automobile industry, its customers, other industry clusters, and the domains of science and policy.
