Region
Flanders

Flanders is a dynamic region of roughly six million people. In addition to a well-developed social market economy and a high standard of living, the region has an impressive track record when it comes to discovery research and innovation across a wide range of disciplines and sectors. People work hard in Flanders but they also enjoy life. Beer in all kinds of tastes, good quality food from a simple "frietkot" with french fries and mayonnaise to world class gastronomic restaurants and of course countless chocolate delights are essential ingredients of the good life in Flanders.

Flanders is home to four Strategic Research Centers (IMEC, VIB, VITO, and iMinds), each of them collaborates with the academic and business worlds in their own specific focus area (nanotechnology, biotechnology, energy & environment and ICT)

Dotted throughout Flanders you can find the region's main cities - Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent - and its picturesque towns, such as Leuven, Bruges, Ypres, Geel and Hasselt. Even though each is unique by its specific history and cultural traditions, all have one quality in common: they will make you feel right at home.
